Wisdom teeth often cause pain and discomfort due inadequate space at the back of the mouth.

When wisdom teeth erupt, they can apply pressure on the nearby teeth, causing them to shift or become misaligned. This can lead to bite problems and potential damage to the surrounding teeth.

We may recommend extracting wisdom teeth to protect the health of the neighbouring teeth, in addition to preventing common issues like teeth crowding, impaction, infection, and tooth decay because wisdom teeth can be difficult to clean.

In some patients, there is not enough room at the back of the mouth and the wisdom teeth remain “stuck” or impacted, within the jaw bone. These impacted wisdom teeth may cause issues like cysts, or resorption of the roots of neighboring teeth.

Wisdom teeth extractions are done under local anesthesia. Our gentle surgical technique ensures that patients get back on their feet as soon as possible. We recommend taking at least 3-5 days off from school and work after having your wisdom teeth removed. Most patients will feel back to normal after 10-14 days.

For patients who feel anxious about this procedure, we offer a mild oral sedative to help relax.
