Tooth extractions are typically done when a tooth is severely damaged, decayed, infected, or if there is not enough room for it in the mouth.

Removal of an infected tooth can help to alleviate pain and prevent the spread of infection to neighbouring teeth and soft tissue. Sometimes teeth are extracted in preparation for orthodontics (braces) to create more space. We understand that having a tooth extracted may cause some anxiety, which it why we aim to make the procedure as quick, painless and forgettable as possible.

Our dentist first numbs the area with local anesthesic. Once you are numb, we gently loosen the tooth using specialized instruments. We may place dissolving stitches (sutures) if we feel it will quicken your recovery.

After the procedure, our team will give you instructions on how to take care of the area and monitor you until the bleeding stops.

Depending on the complexity of your surgery, we may see you for a follow up visit in 10-15 days.
